Am i crazy if I want to connect an external power supply to the fibaro door sensors ?
The idea is to use the sensor with the battery so in case the power has gone off the sensor will continue to work.
Required:
- rechargeable battery 14250
- This one to provide 220V-5V

- It will be connected to this one to have a recharge module and not overload the battery

For less than 10 euros we have a powered z-wave door sensor with backup power supply. (extender function not available)

Easier way - take Arduino Uno or even smaller, 2-core wires, 5-12V supply. Take the battery out, connect wires to the sensor and arduino`s 3.3V pins, plug power supply into a socket. You have external power supply.
I did it to my Philio 3-in-1 sensors, and it works.

Take any LiPo cell and add a small low dropout regulator - as sample LP 2950 ACZ3,0 for very small money.
It will need only about 3,4V on input and will protect the Z-Wave chip against high voltage of the LiPo cell.
If you have more place you can use a solar charger for LiPo cells- then it will be a solution for ever (more or less)
(I use it for Z-Uno as sample)
