[Solved] Problem installing Z-Way and UZB with Windows 10

Post by DominikB »

Hi Z-Wave enthusiasts,

I'm new to Z-Wave and want to start with Z-Way for Windows. So I bought a UZB Stick including the Z-Way licence.
Now I try to get this setup running but failed partly. Can anybody help me?

I could not found a real installation manual on z-wave.me for windows. Most of the docs found are RaspPi related.
Only a download link to the server for windows is provided on the Z-Way hompage.

What I did:

Installing the USB Stick: This seems to work as I get now a new com device called USB (COM3).
Installing Z-Way: I run the follwing installer: http://razberry.zwave.me/z-way-server/ z-way-server-Windows-v2.2.3-rc2.msi

When I log in with Crome into the standard gui with http://localhost:8083/smarthome/#/dashboard
I get the follwing message: "There is no device installed yet"

I found that there is also and expert UI under http://localhost:8083/expert/#/
This give me a menu bar and an error message: "Error handling data from server"
If I go to "Network/Controller Info" I get a long list of items all emty. so as would the USB Stick be not found.

What did I do wrong? Has anybody already successfully install Z-Way on Win 10 with UZB stick?

I would like to be an z-wave enthusiast
with best regards

Please go to [Gear]->Apps->Active->Z-Wave and change port to your COM3 (keep the prefix with these .\\)

Hi PoltoS,

Thanks for your quick reply.
But what do you mean with [Gear] ?
Is this a menu of Expert UI?

Is there a manual to go through, so I do not have to bother you again with trivial help?

Sorry PoltoS, but menu of the Gear-Icon in the SmartHome top menu bar has only two entries:
"My settings"
"Logout"

thats all. What could be wrong, that I do not see more menu entries?

Dear PoltoS,
Hurra, I'm in and again enthusiastic about z-wave :P
At least from the program itself and the support by you!

Not so pleased by the documentation for starters. All this must not have been if only the installer was not directing automatical to "local" user instead of admin (and that I had to guess the default password).

Tomorrow I will get my Z-UNO as a first device and then I have something to play with.

Looking forward to get it and start experimenting

Please subscribe to our Z-Uno mailing list. We hope to release next Z-Uno s/w version next week - you might want to get latest s/w on it.
