Where to fine log files?

How can I connect to my z-way(Rpi3) and see the log files?
Im struggling with the MQTT to HASS, I think maybe the z-way is being overloaded with all the communication?
After a little while running the z-wave on z-way stops responding from commands sent over mqtt.
