Of the six dimmer insert modules I have received only one has actually worked reliably! Four of the faulty units were electrically unstable in that the dimmed load would flicker in a dimmed state. On some units this could be circumvented by jiggling the wires but it is not acceptable for mains voltage appliances. The other faulty unit was a mechanical fault with very "sticky" paddle control.

Has anyone else had similar experiences? The relay switched units have all worked perfectly** so I suspect that the inards of the dimmer units are more delicate and prone to fail when the custom firmware is applied (which I understand is a chip replacement).
