Range extension between two buidings

With the Aeotec Range Extender I managed to control a Fibaro wall plug in a building some 15 meters from my house. The distance between the Raspberry and the wall plug is about 30 meter.
The range extender also made the routing table more robust (greener).
Under the expert commands you can set the power level from normal to -9dbm

I looked at those things and decided as they use a wall socket I might as well invest in an actual power controller for a few more $. Do they provide much more range than a standard mesh item?

They do call the device range extender for a reason
I have no means to measure field strengths. So I can't give an objective answer. However I have tried before with a spare Fibaro switch at the same spot. That did not bring me anywhere.
