Re: Missing actions/status report when sending multiple requests at once

Hm, nothing special. Z-Way is not even abusing in communications. Does it always happen with same devices? How to reproduce it?

It does not happen on the same device... Different devices almost every time not reporting or not processing request. I do think that adding a little delay on the z-way queue between commands could definitely help or even solved the problem... I understand that this should not be happening in the first place but I don't know what else to try to get a z-wave network to behave as it should. :(

In order to reproduce:

Create a Scene with more than 8 devices (The more you add the worse it gets) To simply turn all the devices off and another on to turn all the devices on or set dimming levels, Then simply run the scene...

I have such voice commands issuing about 15 on/off packets. In the past (older SDK) we experienced this bug, but not anymore. Do you have a Zniffer to see what the chip is actually sending when it can not accept the packet for delivery?

Another thing we can do is to pause the Z-Way queue on such "Could not be delivered" to let the Z-Wave SDK relax a bit. May be this will help. We will do that in next release and let you tests.

I do have Zniffer somewhere ... I'll try to find it and share the results...

Something I just found out... if I break the scenes by device brands/z-wave chips everything works (no "Could not be delivered to Z-Wave stack")

Example:
The scenes that causes the "Could not be delivered to Z-Wave stack" are General All on/off scenes by area. This scenes have of different z-wave devices brands from different times (mostly Cooper with 300 series chip and Qubinos with 700 series chip). When actions from different brands/chips are combined into a scene the "Could not be delivered to Z-Wave stack" pops in the logs, although if scenes with devices running actions from the same manufacturer things work as it should and no error is found on the logs.

Could the traffic from different chips (300/500/700) be the source of the problem? or maybe because Lifeline group was enforced to be group 1 since 700 series and the 300 series for cooper devices is group 254 for status report?

Maybe Z-Wave SDK 7.14.1 solves this problem?

Oh, one last thing, Pausing the Z-queue when a "Could not be delivered" message is encountered... Is what Vera has done and still does ... and it has been a real nightmare for Vera users that has forced many to find alternatives (Including myself).... Maybe We can dig deeper and find the real source of the problem, it would be a shame to see such an amazing plattform such as this (Z-way) to start patching things up like vera does...

Laughing on the last paragraph ;) No, we will not let Z-Way become as buggy ;) We have added this pausing and will try to reproduce the "Could not be delivered" to see how it works in real world. And of course we will not release it if it makes Z-Way worse!

Mix of different chips is certainly the reason. Thanks for sharing this founding! Note that 300 chips vs 500 and 700 chips uses 9.6 and 40 kbps, while modern devices do use additional 100 kbps channel. So the routing is also different (other routes via 500/700 devices only). This might affect the state machine somehow.

I now don't see those "Could not be delivered" since I'm on 7th gen RaZberry (pre-production sample, should be available late May). But soon will change back to the old 5th gen and check again.

If I get a 700 series z-wave dongle from sigma can I use it with z-way ? I believe I tried this in the past but it did not work.

Would the 7th Gen USB Z-way dongle (700 series chip) be available as well by late may or could I pre-order some of those?. We have a couple of sites that desperately need this upgrade/patched this bug.

Wouldn't adding a pause when a "Could not be delivered" message is encountered, miss the status update/action that was being sent at that particular moment thus alleviating the problem but not absolutely solving it ?

Can't wait to try this solution (or upgrade the dongle) and reiterate the main reason why many vera/mios users (including myself) made the right decision in moving to you (Z-Way) :D

oh, Would be great to add support for command class 137 (Indicator status report) as well on the next update.

UZB will come later. We are still working on a good antenna.

Since we have hard to reproduce the "Could not be delivered", is it possible to run some tests on your site? Please check PM

The Indicator is implemented. But you can control it only from Expert UI or via Z-Way API. Is it worth to add controls in the Smart Home UI? I doubt... You can always use Code Devices to Indicator to a switch via Z-Way API
