Improve UZB-Stick signal strength/sensitivity

I own an Z-Wave.ME UZB-Stick with the embedded small helix antenna.

Is there a way to improve the receiving sensibility / transmitting signal strength to gain a better operating distance?
  • Using a 2m long USB cable to have a good ground and being able to place the UZB-Stick somewhere higher/outside/vertical is probably a good idea
  • Replacing the internal helix by a straight wire is probably a good idea
Or is there even some other device style available, with a solid antenna, like the old Z-Box?

Thanks
Achim

Depending on your needs, just as another alternative maybe you should try a Z-Wave extender.

Meanwhile I have massive problems with UZB1-Stick signal quality on an installation.
Yes, I've put some addition repeater into the mesh-net (I've used Philio PAN04 with +5dBm Tx power and straight cable antenna).
But still there are problems with the devices close to the UZB1, so best would to replace the tiny helix-antenna by a bigger one like this:

How to use such a good antenna on an UZB1 Stick?
