Problems with Z Way using Windows as Host

Post by liosan »

Hello there!

So I decided to make my own Smart Home and chose the cheap entry by getting the UZB stick with Z Way to be hosted on my Win10 Tablet. So far so good. Unfortunately I came across some difficulties that I couldn't figure out till now (and official support forum is super slow). So here's me hoping for some "outside" advice!

Problem No. 1:
I can't update Apps (or Z Way)

- I got the latest (for Windows 2.1.2  ) Version from here: http://razberry.zwave.me/z-way-server/
- The UI shows me that I have the latest Version, but when I try to connect to make a check manually it says, that it cannot connect to localhost:8084
- For the Apps it does show me if that there are new Apps and Updates for the already installed ones, but when I click either option it only says, that it cannot download it

Problem No. 2:
I want to use the iOS App for Remote Control

- I started the Remote Access App, but I do not know what to insert as the ZBWConnect path

Any help is appreciated! Thx in advance

Do you have something running on port 8084 ?
Was the error related to timeout or access denied ?

Not that I know of. Also tried netstat -an but it doesn't show me port 8084, only 8083

Time out, I reckon. When I try to connect directly, it just tries to establish a connection and after some waiting I get the message that it couldn't connect because there was no response.

That's what I thought.
I can't help you more than this without saying stuff I didn't check.

On raspberry pi, there is a server running on port 8084 for the updates.
On windows, I don't know. I'll leave the answer to others.

Maybe you can check if there is any services that are not launched.
On linux, it's mongoose server but I don't know about that on windows.
A quick search show that mongoose exist for windows.
I guess they use it on windows too... but that's a guess.

If I was you, I'll search for a mongoose server on my computer and make sure it runs.

Hm, so I found the Mongoose Webserver, but I actually have no idea how to set it up. How does it work on the Rasberry?

I installed the windows version of Z-Way on my computer and I got the same issue but I don't have any UZB stick with me right now.

1: Where did you found the mongoose webserver on your computer ?
2: Did you check if the COM port for the UZB stick is correctly configured ?

Well, I didn't find it on my computer per se. My searches always led me to this program: https://www.cesanta.com/products
Which enabled the access to the folder of the installation file via a defined port. Not even sure that it's what you meant.

Might need a little help on that. I'm not that deep into some computer knowledge. Currently it's configured to work on COM Port 3, but not sure how to check the settings of that. Looking at the device integration I also noticed that it has a driver installed, but on the last tab (events?) it says that it needs further installation and that the last installation finished with status 0x0.

We've reach my limits.
I'll let someone else answer you.

But I might suggest you try older versions.

Good luck !
