I have RaZberry2 as Primary and SmartThing Hub as secondary/SUC in my network.
Network contains some "old" GE Switches and Schladge lock which do not report it status (when manually operated) to ZWay server.
So, I have to use plugin called "Niffler" to alleviate a bit this problem. Also not perfect because NIF packages do not get routed.

But how come Smartthing Hub can see these devices status change no problem?
Does Smartthing Hub pulled status from EVERY device in a system EVERY 5 sec or so? Or they have some other tricks in the sleeve?

Some devices do not send Hail. They use NIF. In Z-Way Niffler app is used to handle that. SmartThings might do same out of the box (means same non-routed commands). Or may be it polls (but less probable).

Well, I guess I found an answer. I was using SDR (software define radio) to check on radio activity on Z-Wave frequency (US 908.42MHz).

When I have only RaZberry2 up and running I see RF packets on as needed basis. Like if I push the button or send a command only.

When I have SmartThings Hub running I see RF packets EVERY 1 second for 6-7 seconds then goes pause for 3 seconds and then rinse and repeat when there was no user/button/command input - idling ...

So, SmartThings definitely does polling so often... Well, this might be a problem for big z-wave network...
