Firmware Upgrade Failing

Hi,

I am trying to upgrade my firmware to 5.39 from 5.36 on my RazBerry. I have tried using both the firmware tool and z-way expert mode.

When using z-way expert ui it now tells me I am at 5.39 but there is still an upgrade. When I hit "Upgrade firmware" I get "Unable to update data. /ZWave.zway/ZMEFirmwareUpgrade".

When using ZMESerialUpdater I get:
Writing NVM data .............................. FAILED

Error 0 Unknown exception:Can't write NVM data! at=23100

though 23100 could be anything.

I have attempted upgrades on both stretch and buster with the same result either way, both using "wget -q -O - https://storage.z-wave.me/RaspbianInstall | sudo bash" to install z-way.

When checking the logs using the expert ui I get "Unknown SDK version - update Z-Way"

Does anybody have any idea how to resolve this issue?

Just tried the z-wave provided image with the same results.

I have also tried multiple Raspberry Pi's with no change.

I upgraded from 5.36 to 5.39 with ExpertUI without problems.
Did you shutdown + poweroff after upgrade?

According to https://service.z-wave.me/expertui/uzb- ... tml?hw=327 there are two versions of 5.39 (active) with different bootloaderCRC

Yeah I noticed the different bootloader versions, however they both lead to the same firmware file.

I can't upgrade using the expertUI, I get the error in the original post every single time no matter how I actually install z-way, including using the actual z-way image provided.

The device has been shutdown and powered off multiple times during the multiple attempts to upgrade as I have tried multiple SD cards with multiple images on multiple rpi3b, the only consistent thing is the razberry itself.

It isn't a CRC problem. It is an issue with the tool starting to write the firmware code from the wrong place it seems. I had to go through 50+ retries to finally get it to take. Same problem on the razberry as with the uzb. No need to shutdown and power-on. it makes no difference.

Thanks for the validation rafale77. I take it no one knows how get it to start from the right place?

It appears to restart where it previously stopped and therefore has the tendency to run out of space. I really don't know how to get around it. I just retried until it took.

Change to JP frequency before running the upgrade process (if you are not in JP and to EU if you are). Once done, change it back. This should help.

The reason is incoming packets from your Z-Wave network interrupting the updater.
