Hi,
I search for this a while now and can´t find the answer. What I want to do: I want to trigger a switch after the light is off for 30 minutes. If it is turned back on I don´t want to trigger. Only if it is off for 30 or more minutes.
The rule would be like:
If light is off for 30 min
then turn switch off
Thanks for your help, maybe someone has an Idea.
Trigger Rule after duration
Re: Trigger Rule after duration
Hmm, from my understanding you may use the new Automation menu, then use a Rule.
Here you define it in a different way.
If the light is off
Then turn switch on (here you can define a delay.
I think it is pretty self explaining, but can be difficult if you use the nested conditions.

Re: Trigger Rule after duration
Hi,
If I put in the delay there will the devices still go off if I turn the light back on in under 30 minutes? So will the event be canceled from the next one?
From my understanding this will only delay the action and will not cancel it, if a newer one happens...

Re: Trigger Rule after duration
You could use the digital filter app. This creates a binary sensor reflecting the filtered behavior, which can be associated with the switch.
It isn't exactly what you described, but could approximate your description.

Re: Trigger Rule after duration
I tested the delay and as I thought the devices still go off if I turn the light back on in the delay time. I want to break the delay if I turn the light back on before the delay triggers. Is there any way to do this.
Thanks
Thanks
Re: Trigger Rule after duration
There is an app Escalation Stages, didn´t try it, but the name sounds good....
Or you may use dummy devices to change states and react on.

Re: Trigger Rule after duration
Hi @enbemokel, the Escalation Stage App sounds great, I will try this. I wonder, why this is not possible via the rules editor. Anyway, if the app works this solves my problem perfectly.
Thanks so much!
