Clean install questions

Post by AlesKO »

My Raspberry Pi OS is corrupted (after OS upgrade there is no network connection and I can not fix it).
Maybe it is time to to make clean install on new SD card. So:

1. How can I use backup file (cloud) since after new install I get new User ID?
2.1. I still can access all z-way files. Can I use them instead of backup?

Please help. Might be silly question but I really do not know what to do.

Just installed Raspbian Buster image (https://razberry.z-wave.me/z-way-server ... ry.img.zip).
After rebooting PI expects raspberrypi login and password.
Come on, what is the default user and PWD?

Probably user "pi" and password "raspberry".
It should be possible to alter the boot options through "sudo raspi-config" so you don't have to login manually on boot time.

My zway is up and running stable now so I don't want to fiddle with it too much but I'd go using docker next time if I would go setting it up from scratch.

You can refer to this topic for some clues:

No it is not. Unfortunatelly.
Second statement I do not understand. Clean Debian image > power on > password request.
How/when do I enter boot options?

raspi-config at "boot Options",- B1- B4 asks to install lightdm package
So network has to be setup. But:
"Network Options" , N2 (Wifi connection) brings also error message: "Could not communicate with wpa_supplicant"
How to solve?
Thanks in advance

My RP is Model 3B Rev 1.2
I use Raspbian Buster image downloaded yesterday

It is really sad that z-way has no official support.
So many problems and no technical support.
Is it worth using z-way with so many frustrations?

Thank you Poltos:

Somehow I managed to get backup from your cloud. That is great. But it took me two days to figure it out. Would be great if there are more detailed instructions on your web page.

Next problem:
Installed your Raspbian Buster image (https://razberry.z-wave.me/z-way-server ... ry.img.zip). After rebooting with newly created image Rasp PI expects login and password. ?? ? It is not 'pi' and 'raspberry'. This is my latest frustration. What am I doing wrong? Did I miss something?

I am using Razberry for last five years. It is great price/performance controller. But I do not have time to deep learn z-wave by surfing web all days searching solutions from other users. I just need manual or at least tech support when a problem occures. Many times I read your answers/suggestions to other users but they are sometimes on such tech level I do not understand. Would be great to have documentation on installation, backup restore, programming (MQTT, API, Easy Scripting...).

That's it. I woud be glad if you can give me a hint.
THX!

Since there is no responce from Poltos I am working on my new and new frustrations:
1. Managed to install Raspbian image from z-wave.me link
2. Raspbian starts in a console - command line mode. WTF?
3. Used 'sudo raspi-config' command to change to B4 (No password, auto start in desktop mode). Funny. Did not work. I need to install lightdm package first (command: 'sudo apt-get install lightdm').
4. Result? Bunch of errors on z-wave.me side. Same issue with 'sudo apt'get update'. Great!

I am really pissed-up. And frustrated again.
