I am currently using z-station together with z-wave.js.ui in homeassistant, due to problems with some devices I want to switch to z-wave.me to see if the devices work better with this server. BUT how can I switch over without re-pairing the devices and keeping the names of the current devices? I tried running a z-wave.me server on the ha server just to test before the build, and the units were found on the controller, But the names did not follow, as there are 116 units at the time of writing, I don't feel like either repairing units or needing to change names on them manually. is there an easy way to get over the units with the names as well as the units that use s2 security?

the plan is to build a z-wave.me server on raspberry 5 which then connects to z-station, this will then be connected to my HA installation which is on another computer. the goal is 2st 1 to be able to place this centrally for better coverage, as well as to be able to bring in all units that the remotec zxt-800 controls, i.e. today HA only sees AC units but not the other things that this controls. so I hope z-wave.me sees the other units just like the fibaro hc3 does

The names are going to have to be modified manually. There is no backup you can use to put in Z-Wave.me as the backups between products is not uniform.

I would say do not install Z-Wave.me on a Raspnerry Pi 5. If you want to use Z-Wave.me with HA there are two things you would use in your setup.
1) The Z-Way integration for HA
2) The Z-Way add-on for HA.

So the add-on will run Z-Way in a docker under HA.

Every so often an HA release will break the integration but the subsequent release usually fixes it. So after any upgrade to HA make sure you do a backup first and are prepared to rollback.

Why shouldn't I run zwave.me on an RPI5? It won't use memory cards but a hat with SSD.

Because you don't really need to run it on dedicated system. It doesn't take that much resources at all. Another advantage is that is Z_way is running, so is HA since they would be on the same system. Communication between the two would also be internal.

I moving all of mine system to Z-Way running as a docker under HA. Then use the integration to get the Z-Wave devices from Z-Way into the local HA instance and then use the remote HA HACS add-on to converge them all into one.

You can do it as you please, but that rPi5 will see very little usage in terms of CPU and memory. A rPi4 with 8GB of RAM is more than what is needed to run both HA and Z-Way plus other add-ons, integrations, automations, etc.

That is what my CM4 systems look like. They have 8Gb of RAM.

For the core system it is also a CM4 with 8GB of RAM. As you can see, not much for CPU or RAM usage there as well.
