how to clone from an existing network?

Post by pkshiu »

Hi all,

Newbie question. I just installed a new razberry, and I want to get the network information from my existing z-wave network. Is there a way to do this? Then is it possible for the Raz to be a secondary controller on the network?

Currently my primary control is a very old HA07 (after I gave up on the vera).

Thanks,
P.K.

Yes There is.

If you put the razberry into "Learn Mode" (found in the expert u.i. under network->control) and then go to your existing controller and set it to inclusion mode it should pick up the razberry and transmit a copy of the z-wave network to the razberry. It takes it a minute to get the entire network, but that is exactly what I did and it worked.

I have noticed some issues when the razberry is setup as a secondary controller though. For instance: when you add a new device to the network the secondary controller won't get the device. This might be able to be fixed by having the second controller relearn the network though. I'm pretty sure this isn't an issue with the razberry device . This is just how the z-wave controllers work so you'll have this issue no matter what you use as a second controller (I had a wink and have a razberry and they both worked this way as secondaries).

Thanks for the quick reply ! I actually did the inclusion prior to the post and it "did not work" -- but it did. I think either the server needed to be restarted, or it was just really slow. After a reboot the new devices showed up.
