New Install - INCLUSION takes a long time to start up.

Post by razmataz »

Have Razberry 3 on PI 2. Struggled to get updated. Now on Zwave.me 2.1.3.

So when I go to include devices I get an alert:
SmartHome UI - WARNING INCLUSION takes a long time to start up.

Same message if I try exclusion except savs:
SmartHome UI - WARNING EXCLUSION takes a long time to start up.

Logs look ok to me. I've google for the inclusion/exclusion error and see nothing useful. Downloaded the source from GITHUB and the comment above sending error message is useless. Might as well say,
// The next line is a program statement,

Here is comment:
// If INCLUSION takes a long time and nothing happens display an alert and reset inclusion process

I saw the message, so I know that. But what might it mean? I used to work with a guy that sent messages like 'see programmer', thanks. How about telling me what was expected and happened. Sorry, it's a pet peave of mine.

There is this message in the logs:
[2016-07-27 12:26:22.897] [D] [zway] SETDATA controller.data.frequency = "unknown"
[2016-07-27 12:26:22.897] [E] [zway] Error returned from zway_fc_zme_freq_change(zway, 0xFF, NULL, NULL, NULL): Function class not supported by the hardware (-4)

But, someone having a similar problem posted that to a thread, and the only response was something on the order of 'I don't see a problem in the logs.'

I feel like I'm wading in the quagmire.

Any help would be nice.

So before I give up and look for yet another solution. Can anyone point me anywhere? I miss IRIS 1. It worked so well. Trying to find another solution. Thought this was it. I'm a programmer. But need some sort of help, especially when error messages aren't errors -like you have to know something. This zwave stuff doesn't seem ready for prime time, yet I had used IRIS 1 for a couple years and they had it right before British Gas bought the underlying company.

BTW: I have a 3.0 board I bought a year ago. Looked at the where to buy list to see about a 5.0 and it needs updating. Many sites don't work (US) and one only sold 4 products, all various quantities of razberrys (1,10,100), I just worry about being current, since the 5.0 is out in 2013 and I ordered by razberry 2015/12 and got 3.0 from a place.

Setting this up seems thick and this is just inclusion with nothing to do with using the devices.

Looks like someone nicely got rid of some old stuff. On this forum there are several reports of problems with these gen3 RaZbery devices.

I suggest you directly contact info@z-wave.me, explain your problem again, attach a full log, and refer to this thread.
May be your device is one from a failed batch.

Will contact them. I have a nice clean log from todays boot.

Allow them some time to respond, but if you don't hear back in 2 weeks please report here.

Looks like h/w (EEPROM) fault. Discussed by mail. And these are 3rd gen boards - very old!
