I've done some more testing today and I have established that the cause of the UZB1 not communicating properly on the serial interface is due to the way the serial port is handled in different software.
I'm not a serial comms expert but I do know that things need to be done differently for serial ports if running .net under mono. The 2 software packages I tested that didn't work are written in .net for Windows and Linux (under mono). Software that uses standard system.io.ports under Windows works fine with the UZB1.
Still doesn't explain why other USB sticks seem OK with this other software but not the UZB1.

UZB1 Ubuntu - Bad data - communication failed
Re: UZB1 Ubuntu - Bad data - communication failed
Hello!
Will try to give official reply to all.
UZB1 problems with HomeSeer, OZW and others
We are not aware about this, but it is clear that previous stick (Z-Stick C) used other driver as new one: FTDI vs CDC-ACM. Not sure how others handles this, but in our test lab Z-Way works perfectly with UZB1 - no delays seen.
On Linux they are just same - Linux kernel driver makes them 100% compatible.
Does Z-Way supports UZB1 and why isn't it by default?
As you have seen, UZB1 is the cheapest dongle ever (even cheaper that our previous Z-Stick C in most countries) and it was design for third party software like HomeSeer, OZW, Prosyst, DomoticZ, ....
Of course we were thinking from the beginning to make it compatible with Z-Way too. As you know from our previous masterpieces, we had two versions of sticks: Z-Stick C and Z-Stick for Z-Way. They had same look, but different firmwares and different price. To be clear, price of Z-Way version includes the fee for Z-Way (since you download it for free).
With UZB1 we decided to unify these two devices. So to use it with Z-Way you will need to load special code in the device to let it work with Z-Way. This code changes firmware behavior, pretty like "mirco f/w update"
So, the f/w is done, we are preparing instructions for smooth update. Z-Way will support it from 2.0.1-rc12, but the infrastructure to enter these codes in Z-Way UI and website to accept the "price difference fee" is not yet done. We believe we will start friendly users tests end of this week.
Please understand that we always had Z-Stick C not supporting Z-Way and no one promised you that UZB1 will work with Z-Way out of the box. Again, it was sold as one of the cheapest. But we plan to have the add-on to make it possible to work with Linux and Windows versions of Z-Way.
Will try to give official reply to all.

UZB1 is certified to work with the new OpenRemote Z-Wave stack

Re: UZB1 Ubuntu - Bad data - communication failed
Thank you PoltoS for taking time to answer the queries here.
I can confirm that the UZB1 does not work 100% with Homeseer or OZW but it does work with HomeGenie and Zensys-Tools.
When I say it doesn't work 100%. Some functions do work but simple ON-OFF-DIM does not work and appears to lock the serial interface sometimes.
I expect the issue is compatibility with the new driver because all other sticks I have tested based on the FTDI driver work fine.
So if this device is intended for use with third party software like Homeseer or OZW based solutions then I expect some changes need to be made in that software.

Re: UZB1 Ubuntu - Bad data - communication failed
Is it already released to early adopters??
Re: UZB1 Ubuntu - Bad data - communication failed
I can't install new version
Edit : Finally, I installed manually but unfortunately no option to upgrade key firmware.

Re: UZB1 Ubuntu - Bad data - communication failed
From a personal message I understood that for UZB1 we have to wait a while longer for both an update of the new Expert User interface, and the launch of a license server.mamatdv wrote:Edit : Finally, I installed manually but unfortunately no option to upgrade key firmware.
Re: UZB1 Ubuntu - Bad data - communication failed
Pz1 thanks for your informations.
I use zway server for Jeedom (french open source solution) and I know that this key with the new firmware is really expected. Lot of people use zway on x86 or x64 architecture and the diy solution with a ftdi adapter and razberry is not really tidy.
