service doesn't seem to start

running LD_LIBRARY_PATH=libs ./z-way-server gives the following:

Starting Z-Way for device /dev/ttyAMA0...
failed to discover ZWay: Wrong packet from Z-Wave network or Discovery got bad data (stick communication failed) (-9)

Is the hardware defective?

The log provided is too short, could be anything. Probably the console was not successfully removed from /dev/ttyAMA0.
