UZB1 Ubuntu - Bad data - communication failed

Post by taarn »

Hi,

Just got my ZME_UZB1 yesterday and have been trying to get it to work with ubuntu.

Downloaded http://razberry.z-wave.me/z-way-server/ ... v2.0.0.tgz and extracted it to the folder : /home/user/z-way/z-wave-server

change config.xml -> <log-file>/home/user/z-way/log/z-way-server.log</log-file>
Run

Code: Select all

export LD_LIBRARY_PATH="/home/user/z-way/z-way-server/libs"
then

Code: Select all

./z-way-server
The server starts and go to : http://localhost:8083/z-way-ha/ -> Preferences -> Automation -> Z-Wave binding and change Serial port to Z-Wave dongle to : "/dev/ttyACM0"

The output in z-way-server.log is then:
[2014-12-19 11:35:36.782] [D] [zway] Initialization done

[2014-12-19 11:36:12.672] [E] [zway] SaveData will not save data since it wasn't loaded. This is to prevent data loss.

What is wrong?

UZB1 is not working yet with Z-Way. You will need to upgrade it in future to make work with Z-Way.

Ok, z-wave.me / zway not supporting own HW product. Nice, indeed.

It looks like there is no any Z-wave automation software which is supporting ZME_UZB1 now, right?

How you can sell some hardware without any software to work with?

Afaik almost all Z-stick manufacturers do sell their hardware without any software. Zwave.me does sell some specific sticks that are supported by their software. Those special sticks do cost about 20USD more than plain Zwave sticks.
PS: There are several other (paid and free) Zwave solutions where UZB1 can work with

"Zwave solutions where UZB1"

Could you please list those apps?

Indigo6 seeing the interface but not able to pair devices (no support for that).

Domotics is not able to work with the interface.

What else?

Did you follow this installation of OpenZwave on Domoticz ? If it does work with the Aeon stick, I would expect UZB1 to be compatible as well.

From a post on the Russian forum it will be supported soon:
But it's all in this case it does not matter, because UZB1 is not yet supported in zway (but will be soon)

Any likely date when UZB1 will be supported by z-way-server. I am also planning to buy one but only after z-way-serve is guaranteed to work with it in very near future.

Z-Way support for UZB is finished, but we are now preparing infrastructure for UZB f/w upgrade and key management. This will be done by mid-end of January. May be earlier.

Good news indeed

One question - in case of F/W upgrade will it stay compatible with other controllers?
