Adding secondary controller

Hello.

My RaZ has become a big part of my home automation now and i think that this is a point of failure, i have bought a new one gen5 and i was hoping that this could bring me some redundancy to my z-wave network.

Is it possible to add the new RaZ as a secondary controller and is is possible for me to connect to the secondary controller and send out commands to all the devices and also receive updates, like when a door is opened and temperature changes?

Someone have any experience about this?

This depends on devices in your network. Some devices have only one slot in the notification group, so you cannot make secondary controller to receive updates.

I'd say that a non-reliable SD card storage and losing changes when powered off is much more point of failure than RaZberry card itself.

Hello, thanks for the answer.

Dont get me wrong here, i dont think that the RaZ itself is the issue here, it could be the power supply to the rpi, memory card, cables, port in switch, whatever that makes that main controller to go offline.

What is the best solution for me to get my secondary RaZ "included" to my z-wave network?

Iam adding a new question to this post.

Will i get any performance improvement if i make this new RaZ my main controller and the old one as secondary?

Old: ZW0301
New: ZW0500

And i still dont know how i should do to add a secondary controller.

Search the forum, IIRC there were some instructions. Sorry, have no time to search now, as I have to go.

Thanks.
I tried now with the button "Start learn mode" on the new RaZ and "Start inclusion" on the old one.
My new RaZ is now included in my Z-Wave network, the name for it is "Static PC Controller_37" so the old RaZ did know that is was a new controller that i wanted to add :) thats good, but.. the interview did not pass, i have tried to Force but that did not help, if i login to the New controller i can not see any of my devices on that controller.

Has this been done on version 2.0? do i have to do anything more to get this up and running?

Interview between latest 2.0 controllers should pass. This was tested during certification at least (but it depends on your h/w - on 3rd gen it will not due to h/w restrictions).

But even despite interview results the list of devices in the network should be present. But note that you will see only those devices present in the network at the time of inclusion. All newly included devices will not be seen immediately - you will need to RequestNetworkUpdate.

Hello.
Thanks for the answer.

So then my question changes to, how do i do when there is no devices present on the secondary controller?

Show the log!

This is certainly a problem in underlying Z-Wave layer caused by incomplete inclusion process.

This has caused me big problem in my home automation system right now, i managed to get the new controller to list all the devices, i had to reboot the rpi and then the interview passed except for Security.

But, it seems as both controllers thinks that they are main controller, i have the option to include/exclude on both controllers and the text under Device Management is: Controller is primary in the network.

I could turn on/off the devices from both controllers.
Both controllers generate them self as a device (dim) 1.1 to 1.16 devices so something is very wrong here.

So now my plan was to remove this new controller but now the button "Start Learn Mode" is grayed out and not push-able on both controllers so i dont find any way to exclude this new controller.

Iam now going to try to reboot both controller 1 and 2 and see if that fixes some of my issues.

What logs do you need to have the possibility to find the cause if this big problem?
