Using RPI as MultiSensor Device with GPIO

Post by aleka77 »

Is it possible to set the RPI Z-way to work as a device rather than a gateway.

Situation...existing cabled PIR detectors from old alarm system to use as inputs to a Z-Wave system.
I want to use the RPI GPIO's as inputs to monitor the PIRs and send a Z-Wave command when triggered to my existing gateway (currently Vera MiOS) would also like to use a GPIO as an output to activate a door controller and an output for strobe etc.

Basically trying to make a multi I/O device like the Fibario Universal Sensor but with more I/O using the RPI and RaZberry.

Any help or advise greatly appreciated.

Have a look at Zuno which seems to be made for your situation with the Vera. Won't help you right now, since the device is not yet in the shops (expected very end of the year).

Alternatively kick out the Vera and move all your devices to Raspberry, and write a Zway App (javascript) to interface via GPIO to your existing PIRs.
