Battery Powered Wall Controller not visible in UI

Post by gschwanm »

Hi!

I tried to add Merten Connect 5051xx and 5051xx Battery Powered Wall Controllers. Both devices are visible in the Expert UI, but not in the regular UI.

I tried reboot, reinclusion, not luck.

I am using version 2.2.0 of RaZberry.

Use Trap Events module to create virtual devices for this remote. These devices are dinosaurs btw

Hi there

I have been playing around with Z-Wave for the last 3-4 years and have tested almost every platform and software around. :-)

None of them have been able to successfully include and use the Merten Connect 505xxx/506xxx battery operated wall switches. As far as I have been able to read through MANY Google-searches is that the Merten switches has some kind of proprietary classes the messes up the whole inclusion process?

If I use the Merten switch and any other Z-Wave device that I want to control, like the Fibaro Roller Shutter or Fibaro and/or Qubino dimmers, then I have to do a direct association between those two devices. Doing that it works fine.

I have been able to do that successfully in Indigo (and other software based Z-Wave platforms) but Indigo is bad on other things with these switches such as the fact that a 2-way switch shows up as a 1-way switch... :-(

I recently found out about the Z-Way program and I ordered the Z-Wave.ME USBZ stick together with the license and have now been able to use the Z-Way web gui to do the inclusion, exclusion, parameter configs and so on MUCH better than ANY other software I have tested.
It was also VERY nice to see that the Z-Way server software seems to be VERY good compared to any other software/Z-Wave tool I have tested so far! Very good indeed! :-)

However, while I am able to do direct associations between a Merten 505xxx switch and for example a roller shutter using other softwares I am not able to control a simple on/off wall plug when trying to do the associations via Z-Way.

I have been able to do that with the Z-Wave.ME WALLC-S2 (the new Gen5 version) successfully in Z-Way though so I think there is an issue with Merten Connect wall controllers in Z-Way as in all other software platforms due to the proprieatry classes/implementation that Merten has done with these switches/controllers?

Funny thing is that I am able to see all 4 paddles nice and clean in the Z-Way log:

I have NOT been able to see all four paddles clean like and properly like this in ANY other Z-Wave platform like Z-Way server.

However, when I do an association betwen a wall plug and this Merten battery operated wall controller nothing happens. I can see in Z-Way GUI that the association is indeed set but nothing happens.

What can I do to start debugging this?

This is how the device looks like BEFORE I do the associations with a simple wall plug switch (POPP Z-Wav Wall Plug Switch Schuko IP44 with <deviceData><manufacturerId value="0154"/><productType value="0003"/><productId value="0001"/>)

And this is how it looks like after I have associated upper right and lower right paddle to my wall plug:

So far it all looks good but nothing happens when I press the upper right paddle, light does not go on. I see events in the Z-Way log though.

Doing the same thing with a Z-Wave.ME WALLC-2 (the new GEN5) works fine though and the associations there looks like this:

Where can I find the "Trap Events" module? It is not listed in the local apps on my z-way 2.2.0.

It is mentioned in http://razberry.z-wave.me/docs/zwayha.pdf. Maybe it is not available anymore, or I have to install it but do not know how...

I can see the Trap App under the home menu and if you click on the gear / setup icon on the far right:
APPS - Trap events - visible in GUI.JPG

However, I am not able to see my Merten switches as available to select in the Trap events app.
Neither do I see the events in the event logg in the web gui. I do see the events in the Z-Wave log though.

Hi!

Seems you have some more apps. This is what I have available:

Compared to you screenshot, I miss System Clock, Schedules Scenes, Security Modules, Periodic Sensor Polling, ...

Did I miss one step in setting up the system?

I am using RaZberry with z-Way 2.2.0 on the SD-Card Image for RaZberry.

I am on Windows 10 with release 2.1.2-rc17.
I did not do anything special when setting this up. The Trap Event App was there under Local Apps directly from starting the Z-Way service first time.
