Preserve .syscommands settings when updating

Post by fez »

I just updated from 3.0.1 to 3.0.2 and realized only some hours later that my own settings from .syscommands and config.xml were gone, the files got overwritten during the update.
Maybe it would be possible to add a tag or something (at least) to the . syscommands where custom settings can be added which will not be lost during update.
So please extend the install scripts to preserve user made .syscommands and config.xml settings when updating in the future.

I have addressed this as well long ago . Also for logrotate configuration.

Upgrading to 3.0.0 via 'sudo apt-get update' there was the possibility to hold the old versions. How did you upgrade?

This time I did it over the UI.
I wanted to know how this works, because it is a more convenient option.
It worked well, except the above mentioned ones.

This is a major issue for me as well. I lose my .syscommands on every update. (Using "apt upgrade" on raspbian stretch - no prompt during the upgrade)
