Operating Temperature Range

Post by ekkzk5f »

An idea is to use the Z-Uno in outdoor environment. There are very less outdoor temp-sensors available at the moment and most only go down to -10°C

So will it be possible to operate the Z-Uno at -10°C or at -20°C?

What are the problems in using such a board below -10°C?

Thanks

Biggest concern is freezing water. Condensed water is a problem due to potential shortcut, while freezing adds deformations and mechanical tension. If you use laquer (use special one for PCB, not any, as some can destroy wires) and/or waterproof housing, it should work. Also fast temperature changes makes problems with thermal expansion.

So, do it only on your own risk. We have not yet tested it. But we will in winter ;)
