I published the app Low Battery Notification, but this is basically the same as Battery Polling with an option to bind it to a notification.
I am not satisfied with this solution either, but it is better than without. I have limited time for this stuff, so If you come up with a better solution I would be happy to switch over.
But I am not sure how will you be able to fix it, since the problem is usually in the devices itself and the different quality batteries: many not reporting but shutting down, many reporting low, but still running for months, and others, like the Danalock, reporting 100% but not having enough power to turn the lock.

Re: Fault Alarm System

Post by piet66 »

Just uploaded my apps I'm using for a fault alarm system to app store. They are not made public, so you need to add the token MxTools to smartUI settings for download.

It's the best solution I found for this purpose with the existing possibilities. If anybody has a better idea, please tell. For me it's working without any false alarm. And it was already useful several times.

Apps:
1. MxBatteries: It's doing nearly the same as the existing battery polling apps, but it displays a sorted list of all battery levels in a virtual device, and it polls for battery levels only if necessary.
2.MxFailedDevices: Checks regularly for failed devices and displays a list in a virtual device. If devices failed, it sends/can send an email with device list to a predefined receiver (only Linux). For battery devices, special checks are done.
3.MxSyncSwitches: It synchronizes 2 switches. Also, it has the ability to conditionally set a device parameter.
I use this app to synchronize the output of MxFailedDevices with a physical one for visual signaling.
I abuse a Fibaro Wall Plug for this purpose:
off with green ring = no faults
on with blue ring = battery failed
on with red ring = mains powered device failed
Additionally when switching the wall plug, it switches back. So I know, zway is still living.

Would be nice if you give me feedback on what you think of this solution.

- did you install and start (+Add App) MxBaseModule first?
- I see all my apps. Perhaps try search function.

Piet66, I have it all up&running now, and just want to say that you did a very, very good job !
It all works perfect and I can now see my failed devices just fine...
Very happy with the result, thank you...
