Power supply on 5V pin / 3.3V pin

Post by dom »

Can we directly connect a 5V power supply to 5V pin ?
Same question for 3.3V pin (with a 3.3V power supply) ?

In the 5V case how many mA can be used on the 3.3V PIN (in order to supply other 3.3V compoments) ?

Thanks

Yes, you can connect power to 5V or 3V3 pins directly

For 5->3.3 DC-DC we use MCP1700. It can source up to 250 mA total

I want to supply Z-Uno with 12V, supplied to pins 1 and 3 (7-18V input / gnd).
The plan is to use Z-Uno's DCDC converter to supply peripheral components (like MAX3232) from 3V3 output. Can I do that?

Are there schematics available from the Z-Uno board (not just pinout)?

Thanks,

Rob

it's a good news to be able to avoid micro USB as power input ;-)
