Hi,
I've had a few instances where the z-way server appears to have crashed.
Not quite sure why its happening :-/
I'm looking at the quickest way to get the server back up.
Reboot the PI or /etc/init.d/Z-Way restart.
Any thoughts?
Thanks,
Neil

Re: Best way to restart server...
Does it happen regularly? Is there any crash reason in the log?
Surely service restart is faster than restarting whole Pi.
Note that /etc/init.d/Z-Way is renamed to /etc/init.d/z-way-server starting version 1.7.0 (it is already renamed in release candidates).

It's happened twice of late... are the logs persistant? Where are they located? I'll have a look

Re: Best way to restart server...
They're in /var/log. Either Z-Way.log or z-way-server.log, depending on software version.
Version 1.7.0-rc3 delivers a lot of stability improvements, so your issue may be already solved.

Jeez, the Z-Way.log is HUGE
I'll have to delete it and see how it goes...
Is logging configurable?

Re: Best way to restart server...
Version 1.4.0 and later handles SIGHUP, so you may install logrotate to archive old logs.
Also you may set log level in config.xml (0 to 6 for log-level and 0 to 4 for http-log-level)

Re: Best way to restart server...
I think for the minute, i'm looking to reduce it...
i might rename it on boot... to start new one

Re: Best way to restart server...
Latest install script configures logrotate to 10M * 4 files. So the file will not be so huge anymore. Just update and it will be configured automatically.
Re: Best way to restart server...
Think i'm running 1.4.1, whats the current version?
Will i lose any functionality?
Can you please remind me how to upgrade?
Thanks
Neil
