razberry doesn't see devices

Post by mikelsr »

Problem:

When attempting to include a device the RaZberry doesn't find any. I have four devices but I am only trying to include a Nexia RP200 Home Dimmer Module, Freq 908.42 MHz. I know the dimmer device works as I can use the Nexia bridge to include the device (which I then exclude). The RaZberry does communicate as I can see data sent/received in the log file. Also the red led lights up when I attempt to include a device and goes out when I stop the include.

How can I tell if my RaZberry is on the correct frequency for the US as I understand it supports a number of countries? I have the zway and OpenRemoteHelpers modules configured.

Just trying to get my system running.

Here is the info on my system:

You have 3rd generation RaZberry (latest are 5th gen - available since September 2014).

Your board does not support frequency switching other than EU/RU. And if you have a US one (you should have this one), do never try to switch it on EU or RU. Otherwise it will kill it. Otherwise you will need to recover it with our support team.

Are you use you have a US version of RaZberry?

For Christmas my wife ordered this for me over the internet. The box states only tells me it is a Z-Wave Razberry-Pi GPIO Daughter Card New. Bar code is X000JW1VTJ, sticker on card is 01.10.14. So I don't know if it is a US version or not. She purchased it from Quantum-Wireless. I guess I should call them.

And thank you for your reply.

I contacted Quantum-Wireless.com (where the order was placed) and they told me that the device should be a US device.

Please check that crystal on the chip has US+ label (it is a metallic "chip"). Hope you have not tried to change frequency to RU/EU/US or any other.

Also try to exclude the device first

It does have US+. After the device didn't respond to the switch I did select US then EU and then US. I did try and exclude the device, that was one of the first things I tried. The red led does light up when I attempt to include and it goes off when I stop including but I guess I fried the device?

All these frequencies buttons were designed for new 5th gen device, not for 3rd gen. For third gen it was not possible to change frequency to US in other way than reflashing it. So, you made it EU and now it is on EU (while antenna SAW filter is US). Pity, but you killed it....

But if you promise not to touch this button again, we can help to re-flash it. Please enable remote access in 8084 and send us by mail your Z-Box ID and password to your RaZberry. We will try to recover it.

We will need your help to test it once done.

A quick question. Would it be better to return this device through Amazon and get the 5th gen?

Not sure you can return it. It is not a faulty one, so ask Amazon,

Send the credentials to support@z-wave.me. It will be pretty fast to recover it I believe. But we will need your presence after recover to check that it works again.
