Windows 10 IoT and the Razberry - Initial Setup

Hey all,

First post in the forum. I'm attempting to use the Razberry daughter card with my raspberry pi model 2 b device. I would like to use Windows 10 IoT as the OS on the raspberry pi. But can't seem to determine how to conduct the initial configuration of the daughter card for use with Windows 10 IoT

There appears to be extensive documentation on using a raspberry pi running linux and the Razberry daughter card. My research seems to show that there is a linux package available that initializes and makes the Razberry daughter card function. In that, the card functions, a web service is created, and it can be accessed from a web browser, etc.

Will Z-Way run on my specific platform?

Z-Way itself will compile and run on any POSIX-compliant platform including Linux, Mac OS X and other Unix-like systems. It also runs on Windows.

So has anyone had success with Windows 10 IoT and the Razberry daughter card?

I second the question. I installed Win10 IoT on my Raspi2 this week and would like to develop using the Razberry board. Any hope here?

So from what I can tell, Windows 10 IoT core supports alljoyn natively. Alljoyn is similar to z-wave. Microsoft appears to offer an adapter of sorts (dynamic systems bridge) to integrate z-wave devices with alljoyn. What I'm still confused on is whether or not any configuration is required out of the box when using the z-wave daughter card controller on windows 10 IoT. As I said in my previous post z-wave.me provides a software download for linux that appears to create a web service that allows a user to access the z-wave controller via a web browser (http://yourrasperberypi:8083) but when I attempt to navigate to this URL on my network with my vanilla windows 10 IoT pi and the daughter card plugged in, nothing loads. I'm just trying to understand how I can ensure the card is functioning. It looks like the API you mentioned may provide me with the ability to interact with this card so I will look into that

I don't doubt that. Can you point us to resources that describe how to enable z-way on WinIoT? Or is it just magic?

Never tried WinIoT so far. There are two topic:
1) how to install and run Z-Way on WinIoT. I guess just like on any other Windows.
2) how to make RaZberry card be visible as COM-port in WinIoT on RPi. With UZB it should work out of the box (even drivers are not needed anymore)

So...powering on the PI and plugging the the Z-Wave daughter card does not result in any LED indicators turning on. There's something missing here in initializing the card and making it available to Win 10 IoT and I'm not really sure what it is.

Running commands to return devices initialized and available to the Pi doesn't show the daughter card at all as being available or recognized. any help here would be appreciated

From the Razberry website:

Supported Linux distribution

Z-Way for RaZberry is supported on Raspbian distribution for Raspberry Pi computer. Although it can be launched on other Raspberry Pi distributions too.

Z-Way can also run on Ubuntu x64, Debian x64 and Debian x86. Check latest version.


I don't think we're going to be able to get this card running on Windows 10 IoT until z-way is released for Windows 10 IoT...bummer. I'm sure as hell not writing drivers for this thing. I'll return it and pick up an Aeon z-wave USB stick before I do that
