Nodes failing or even disappearing for no reason

I'm still having issues with randomly failing devices after upgrading to 3.1.4. Nodes will stop working or disappear completely from the network.

When the node stops working, the software just reports "node appears to be dead". In most cases, doing a Call for Nif and Force Interview will restore functionality. In two cases (both devices being a Fibaro 221 dual relay switch) I had to power cycle the devices before the interview would complete; I suspect hardware/firmware issues, though I haven't had to do that even once in all the years I was still using a Vera Z-Wave controller.

In other cases, the node silently disappeared from the network. In this case, when I put the controller in inclusion mode and hit the device inclusion button, the device reappears with the old device ID, and works as before. It does not work however when the node was included securely; apparently the keys are lost and my only recourse is to mark the node as failed and do a Replace.

Please provide more info: logs. I suppose something weired will be inside that resulted in the device to silently disappear from the network

I'm not sure when the device disappeared, I don't regularly check the system so it could have been weeks ago, and there are a *lot* of logs. I'll check the Maintenance screen in my app (that tells me when a device goes missing) every day from now on, so at worst it'll be a 24 hour log to examine. I'll post that here when I have something.

Meanwhile I'm curious if anyone else has experienced this.

It is easy to "grep" logs for the last packet from that node ID and then search around for messages about this ID

I'm having the same problem with one device. I haven't gotten time to explore it further.

Where is the package log and is it enabled by default?

My device is a w-wave+ device with S2 authentication, I have a faint memory that if you have security enabled you need to have either direct access to the controller or all nodes in between needs to be secured.

My device is a bit away and there's some unsecured nodes in between.

Do anyone more knowledgeable have any further info?
